The Scientix Authentic and Inclusive Informatics Award Supported by TINKER: Results from the 2026 STEM Discovery Campaign
The Scientix STEM Discovery Campaign, an annual international initiative was co-organized this year with the support of the NBS Academy project and ran from 1 February 2026 to 30 April 2026. The initiative invited educators, projects, schools, libraries, organisations, universities, youth clubs and all interested stakeholders across Europe and beyond to celebrate careers and studies in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Educators from over 50 countries submitted more than 9,000 STEM education-related activities implemented between 1 May 2025 and the end of April 2026, reaching over 200,000 teachers and 800,000 students.
Organised within the framework of the Campaign, the Scientix® Awards initiative recognises outstanding achievements in science education and honors educators and projects spanning various themes and domains of education. TINKER supported the Scientix Authentic and Inclusive Informatics Award, inviting educators to share experiences related to an authentic and inclusive informatics education and the TINKER project, including activities inspired by the TINKER MOOC and the TINKER toolkit.
More than 140 entries, pinned to the STEM Discovery Campaign map, were related to the topic, of which 83 were shortlisted for the Scientix Authentic and Inclusive Informatics Award. The winners of this Award are:
